The province of Granada enjoys a mild Mediterranean climate with hot summers and mild winters, the average annual temperature being 15.2ºC with an average of 8 hours of sunlight a day. The region’s climate varies in accordance with its landscape, the coastal areas enjoying milder weather all year round and contrasting greatly with the snow-capped mountains of the Sierra Nevada. It has been claimed that during late spring, it’s possible to ski in the mountains and then head down to the coast for a swim on the same day. Situated approximately 50 km from the coast and at an approximate altitude of 680m, the city of Granada has cooler winter temperatures than the coastal areas but winters tend to be mild and are blessed with abundant sunshine. The weather in Granada is so diverse that any traveller can find their ideal climate.
