July and August are the hottest months of the year with temperatures regularly above 30ºC and very little rain from June to September. Water temperatures are a warm 22-26ºC - perfect beach weather! Autumn heralds the close of the clubbing season, and the weather generally remains sunny for the final hedonistic hordes. Daytime temperatures average around a comfortable 22ºC, with occasional showers and eight hours of sunshine per day for cycling, hiking and exploring the countryside. Water temperatures in September and October are still wonderfully mild. Winter is a peaceful time to visit the island, but temperatures drop down to an average of 12ºC and the weather is more likely to be wet and windy. Visitors during winter still receive a good dose of vitamin D and surfers hit the beaches to enjoy the swell. The island bursts into flower in springtime, with lush meadows carpeted in wildflowers and almond trees in full bloom. Temperatures average at a lovely 20ºC with between 8-10 hours of sunlight per day. Pack a light jacket if you are visiting during spring, as evening temperatures can be quite cool.
