Lanzarote Weather and Climate |
Bright and light climate-wise, you can escape the gloom with a sunshine-guaranteed break in Lanzarote. Because it’s relatively flat, the island is one of the driest and hottest of the Canaries. And as Lanzarote lacks the mountainous peaks of Gran Canaria and Tenerife, the rays always get through – providing you with a tan which will be the envy of your stay-at-home friends. So, lounge like a lizard on the island’s surfeit of golden beaches. Or indulge in a wide range of sports. Rain rarely stops play in Lanzarote. A popular winter destination, Lanzarote offers an average of ten hours of sunshine and 21 dry days a month whilst the rest of Europe feels the cold snap of bitterly chilly conditions. Spring sees the temperature hot up a little but as in summer, the ocean breeze and low humidity ensure you keep your cool. Autumn is almost indistinguishable from summer except it gets darker a little earlier, a complete contrast to the autumns experienced on the European mainland. Refresh yourselves in spring by taking advantage of Lanzarote’s favourable climate, with average temperatures of 20ºC. Summer and things go hot, hot, hot with a 23ºC average. Autumn cools to a mild average of 21ºC. Winter delivers the perfect Christmas, meanwhile, with a 19ºC average. Lighten your load by excluding heavy coats from your baggage. You won’t need them, even in winter. A light sweater will suffice for when the sun goes down. Below you’ll find a table indicating the minimum and maximum temperatures you should expect to enjoy rather than endure on your Lanzarote holiday:
