Minorca’s weather only adds to this island's charm. Its Mediterranean climate gives it a verdant landscape all-year-round, surrounded by a cobalt blue seas. Throughout the year, Minorca has a mild climate, with an average annual temperature of 17ºC. But each season has a magnetism of its own. The Tramuntana northern winds make the higher temperatures in summer tolerable. Minorca's southern coast offers numerous beaches, allowing you to fully enjoy this wonderful summery weather. Rain practically ceases to exist between the months of June and September, reappearing in autumn to make it the rainiest season of the year. Though winter is cooler, the thermometers give average readings of around 11ºC. Even during this season, you may explore the diverse landscape of Minorca, featuring caves, sand dunes, dry-river beds and the ponds, marshes and lagoons of the wetlands. During spring, Minorca transforms itself into a floral paradise. The best months to take picturesque walks around the island are April and May, when fields are covered in yellow Crown Daisies, white Asphodels, red Italian Sainfoin and the Balearic's endemic plants that grow along the island's rocks on the northern coastline. |
