Climate in Valencia |
Valencia’s climate is always good (average annual temperature is 17ºC with an average of 7 hours of sunlight a day) which is undoubtedly one of the reasons why its population spends so much time outdoors. Its excellent Mediterranean climate brings pleasant spring and autumn temperatures, a succession of lovely hot summer days and a mild winter with an abundance of sunshine. This makes it a perfect holiday destination at any time of year and the right time to go depends entirely on personal preferences and holiday expectations. High summer temperatures, averaging highs of 29ºC and lows of 19ºC, are ideal for those looking forward to a holiday spent relaxing on the beach and working up a tan, a perfect time to try the local ice-cold drink, ‘horchata’, made from ground tiger nuts and cold milk. The warm summer evenings open up endless possibilities: strolling up and down the beachside promenade, enjoying a lingering paella outdoors, sauntering along the ‘Jardín del Turia’ towards the marina area for an evening drink or joining in the city’s late night revelry. Spring and autumn temperatures are lovely, spring highs averaging 20ºC and lows of 10ºC and autumn highs averaging 22ºC and lows of 14ºC, both seasons being ideal for sightseeing in Valencia or its environs while taking in the scent of the orange groves on the way. The historical city of Sagunto, to the north of Valencia, contains various monuments that bear testimony to the history of the region while the factory and museum of the famous Valencian porcelain manufacturer, Lladró, lies a short distance to the north in the town of Tavernes Blanques. Mild winter temperatures, averaging highs of 15ºC and lows of 6ºC, might make this a good time to take a turn on one of the neighbouring golf courses and bask in the many hours of winter sun.
