Evora Weather |
One of the reasons that make the Alentejo region popular when in Portugal, is the hot weather and comfortable cool winters. And Evora is the place to prove it. Even though the city is relatively far from the southwest coast, you will soon forget the sandy beaches, and be overwhelmed by the immensity of a beautiful sunset in the town centre. Evora is particularly peaceful in the spring, especially March through May. Being located in the hottest region in the country, you can expect high temperature and dry weather during the summer. July and mostly August, are the months with the warmest temperature, making your holiday an extremely hot one at this time of year. Despite the heat, you will find yourself enjoying long summer days by taking a quiet walk, or as you dine a traditional meal of tomato soup and lamb stew as late afternoon approaches. Luckily for many travelers who are big fans of sunny weather, Evora maintains quite a warm climate from May to September. You will probably find more tourists visiting the city between the months of June and September, in comparison to the spring and winter seasons. During the fall the city becomes very intimate and especially involving because of its captivating setting. In the winter you will find Evora to be cold and rainy. A lesser amount of tourists are seen, and the streets are more deserted. However, this ambience will give you a different look upon the town, and is great for those whom prefer to blend in with the locals and see the city through different eyes. On a lazy summer afternoon or on a cold winter night in Evora, a taste of the very famed and high quality red wine, is a must. Herdade do Esporão and J. Portugal Ramos are two of the top red wines of the region. No matter what the weather is like, there will always be room for a divine meal that will make you beg for more, each time. Based mainly on bread and meats, the gastronomy found in Evora is also known for its cheese, almond sweets, and soups. From site seeing, to eating typical food and sipping some fabulous red wine, every time seems like the best time to visit Evora. Recommended Evora Hotels
